Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police on Friday foiled a YouTuber conference that was to be held at a hotel in Secunderabad. Citing the “police clearance” standard, the cops allegedly stormed into the Metropolis Hotel in Secunderabad and ordered the hotel management not to allow the YouTubers to meet.
No less than seventy YouTubers from different parts of the country have planned a two-day conference in a hotel on various topics such as the conceptualization of Islamophobia, the suppression of fake news, the impact of mobile journalism, the use effective use of social media by political parties and the need for collaboration. were on the agenda.
Shortly after the young YouTubers started arriving at the hotel, a dozen police officers burst into the conference room and refused permission to hold the conferences. That’s not all, the police reportedly ordered the hotel management to disconnect the electricity to the conference room and the entire first floor where the YouTubers also took rooms to stay.
“Police did not allow the proposed conference as they did not obtain prior police clearance from the relevant police authorities as it was the interstate conference that Hyderabad Police’s consent is a must” , said DCP North Zone Chandana Deepti.
While the YouTubers alleged that since the meeting was held close to the hotel and it was an indoor event, the police clearance did not appeal to him.
As the hotel management cut off the power supply, the participants were forced to stay outside the hotel overnight.
